14TH ANNUAL FREEZIN FOR A REASONĀ
The 14th Annual Freezin for a Reason event will take place Friday January 1st, 2021, New Years Day.Ā The event gives people a fun way to provide support for three organizations that serve the needs of many people.Ā The Brunswick Area Food bank helps many families through out the year. BEACON helps families with emergency needs such as housing, utility bills and help to children.Ā The Frederick Count Special Olympics program supports youth and adults with intellectual challenges, by providing a healthy and fun sports program.Ā All funds donated will stay here in Frederick County and the Brunswick area to help our people in great need.
You can help in one or both ways.Ā You can make a pledge to support a person going into the river or you yourself can collect some pledges and take the plunge.Ā The river plunge takes place at the Brunswick Family Campground, 1 mile east of Brunswick on the C & O canal with the actual plunge taking place at 1 pm.
If you choose to participate in the plunge, a pledge sheet can be found at BARCMD.com .Ā A new t-shirt is being designed, and given to participants. Ā Light packaged snacks and drinks will be provided.Ā A changing area will be set up for use after the plunge.Ā You can pre-register by mail, phone 301-834-8045 or by e-mail zum50@hotmail.com or bring your pledges to the event.Ā A minimum of $25 in pledges is required to take part in the plunge.Ā Several key contacts for the event include, Sandy Cox, Shirley Shores, Keith Zecher, Bob Ward, Lee Zumbach.Ā Ā Thanks to River & Trail Outfitters for their support by giving the campground to the event and promoting the event.
