The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin improving the driving surface of the MD 17 (Burkittsville Road) bridge that connects Maryland and Virginia on Sunday, August 1.

Starting at 8 p.m., crews will repair potholes and resurface both directions of the bridge between Maryland Avenue at the roundabout in Brunswick and the Virginia line, a span of a half-mile. Crews will continue to work nightly, Sundays to Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, through the project’s expected completion in August.

Motorists can expect single-lane closures with a flagging operation while the work is taking place. Traffic will be maintained on the bridge throughout the project.
