The 2021 Brunswick Railroaders Little League season is a little over two weeks old, but so far, the competition for the top spots in the Majors standings is keen.

The Phillies are off to a 2-0 start, with the Orioles and Reds tied for second at 1-1; the Cubs are 0-2.

Opening Day featured wins by the Orioles and Phillies. The season-opener saw the Orioles defeating the Reds, 7-1. In the second game of the day, the Phillies edged the Cubs, 5-4.

The Orioles defeated the Nationals on Opening Day in Minors division play, 12-6. In BRLL softball action, South County turned back Brunswick’s Majors, 14-2. On the Minors softball circuit, the Lady Roaders Garnet blanked the Lady Roaders Gold, 10-0. Earlier that day, Lady Roaders Gold edged Lady Roaders Black, 5-4.

BRLL Junior Little League continues to grow, with both Brunswick teams winning on Opening Day. Brunswick Gold defeated MCLL’s Marlins, 15-0. Brunswick Garnet defeated the Frederick Dodgers, 15-2.

Saturday, April 10

Baseball

Majors

Orioles 7, Reds 1: Cole Renn pitched a complete-game victory for the Orioles with 10 strikeouts and four hits. Dillon Murphy had three hits and Max Foltz had two. Carter Vinar had a double for the Reds.

Phillies 5, Cubs 4: The Phillies scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the walk-off win. Isaac Robertson had two hits for the Phillies. Henry Maeshiro had a double. LJ Tobery doubled for the Cubs.

Minors

Orioles 12, Nationals 6: Liam Potthoff had three hits with a triple and four RBIs for the Orioles. He also had 12 strikeouts on the mound. Rickey Riley had two hits for the Nationals.

Juniors

Brunswick Gold 15, MCLL Marlins 10: Sam Verosto and Connor Finn each had two hits for Brunswick Garnet in the win over the Marlins.

Brunswick Garnet 15, Frederick Dodgers 2: Riley Mitko had two hits with a double for Brunswick Garnet. Justin Ricketts also doubled.
