Mr. Emerson L. Powers, 62, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 5, 2021, in his home.

Born February 6, 1958 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late C.L. Emerson Powers and Dolly Mae (Rose) Powers.

He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was very proud of his military service.

Mr. Powers worked as a salesman at Routzahn’s Furniture and Ashley Furniture.

He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Waynesboro and Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319, Greencastle.

Mr. Powers enjoyed riding his motorcycle, being outdoors, trips to the beach, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two children, Josh Powers and his wife, Kelly of Tyrone, PA and Ashley Smith and her husband, Bradley of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Alex, Kyleigh, Avey, Maya, Aubrey, and Ava; one sister, Crystal Ewing of Williamsport, MD; three brothers, Lloyd Powers of Florida, Hugh Powers of Brunswick, MD, and Shane Powers of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 8, 2021 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Ray Kipe officiating. Military honors were conducted by Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
