Pastor Clayton Clark of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church spent an afternoon along the Potomac at Dargan recently with his handsome grandson Cooper. Clayton says, “Zero fish were hurt during this outing. This solidified my notion that mosquitoes prefer one flavor human over another. 50:1 settles it for me.”

The Valley was saddened by the sudden death of Zach Nokes, 23, of Rohrersville. He was injured in a single-vehicle ATV crash early Saturday morning in the 2500 block of Rohrersville Road (Route 67), according to the Maryland State Police.
Zach was determined to have been operating a side-by-side ATV on Rohrersville Road when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, according to police. The vehicle struck a concrete drainage structure and overturned.
He was transported by Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 3 to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Zach was known as a kind and loving young man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and race cars. He will be lovingly remembered as someone who would do anything for his friends and family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Services for Zachary Taylor Nokes will be at Bast-Stauffer in Boonsboro on Friday for the viewing from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm for family, then 6:00 pm-8:00 pm for friends. The funeral will be Saturday at Brownsville Church of the Brethren at 1:00 pm.

Meritus Health will be at Brownsville Church of the Brethren (1911 Rohrersville Road, Knoxville – Pleasant Valley) on Tuesday, July 6 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. They will be using the one-shot J&J vaccine, so no need for another trip for a second shot. Individuals do not need an appointment. They can simply show up to receive their free vaccination. They should bring ID.
Pastor Calvin Park says, “We’re excited to be able to partner with Meritus to bring the opportunity right into our community. We’re hoping those who may have a more difficult time getting out to a vaccination site will be able to take advantage of this. We’re also hopeful those who simply haven’t been able to take the time to go get vaccinated yet will be able to come out on July 6 and get their shot.
