FREDERICK, Md. – From Sept. 17-25, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies, Community Assistance Volunteers, and the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement Team will assume full responsibility for the safety and security of all those attending and working The Great Frederick Fair 2021.
“During the day, FCSO will provide interior security to the Fair and at night we will add additional security for traffic direction and crosswalk safety,” said Lt. Jason Deater, FCSO Patrol Operations assistant commander. “Our deputies working the event will concentrate on violations of the law, missing personnel, and emergency situations. Additionally, private security will be on-site to assist.”
Working with the Frederick County Emergency Management Division, FCSO created a new opt-in text number, in 2019, that is open to the public to receive weather and public safety alerts real time. This number will only work from Friday, Sept. 17, through Saturday, midnight, Sept. 25. The FCSO will only use these texts for emergencies; the texts will not contain day-to-day Fair information. To opt-in, text “GFFair” to 888777.
As a reminder, the first call in any emergency should be to 911, who will in turn dispatch the appropriate first responders accordingly. All non-emergencies calls should go to 301-600-2071, who will also dispatch the appropriate agency to respond. Finally, the FCSO will have an information booth and recruitment table set up at the Fair, located right inside Gate 3.
