Dear Brunswick Middle School Families,
This morning, an anonymous call was made to the school referring to a bomb threat. Administrators immediately contacted law enforcement and followed the county’s policies and procedures for investigating the situation. After investigating the report and conducting a search of the facility, the administration and emergency responders determined that the school was safe and the threat was false. We were able to maintain a secure environment.
The Brunswick Police Department has been very helpful and supportive to us as we work to ensure the safety for our students. This afternoon, I was notified that the location of the anonymous call had been identified.
Individuals responsible for reporting a false bomb threat face felony charges for attempting to disrupt the operations of the school. Disciplinary actions range from extended suspension to expulsion from Frederick County Public Schools.
I am disheartened by this threat to the safety of our school. We will continue to do everything we can to provide a safe place for our students to learn and grow. I encourage you to talk to your children about the seriousness of reporting a false bomb threat. I appreciate your continued support in our efforts to provide a safe learning environment.
Sincerely,
Everett Warren
Principal
