Superintendent’s Blog – Science in Action
Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban’s Off the Cuff topic this week is Science in Action.
Some students may ask why they need to study science. COVID-19 may prove to be one answer as scientists continue to study the disease that has kept the world in pandemic mode for more than a year. Scientists have been essential to battling COVID-19.

FCPS Challenges Program to Change Name
The Frederick County Public Schools Challenges Program will soon be changing its name to either Communication Connections or Expressions, and we would love your vote, and feedback, on the final selection.
The Challenges Program provides integrated support to students with autism and/or severe communication disorders.
A workgroup was organized to create a new moniker that would not only embody the purpose of the program, but would also evoke a sense of optimism associated with positive student outcomes. The group discussed many possibilities, settling on two names. The public is being asked to weigh in.
If you would like to vote for your preference, please visit the following weblink to do so: https://pubforms.fcps.org/view.php?id=81174.
Voting will close April 16.
