Bill Cauley

Sports Writer

Originally from Salisbury, Maryland, Bill’s family moved to Brunswick in 1959 when his dad, Jesse F. Cauley, Jr., was named manager of J.J. Newberry’s in Brunswick. Bill graduated from Brunswick High School in 1972 and from Frederick Community College in 1975.
His newspaper career began as a sports reporter for the former Brunswick Blade-Times from 1969 until it ceased publication in 1972. When the Brunswick Citizen began publication in 1974, Cauley was named Sports Editor and held that position until 1977, when he joined the Frederick News-Post as a full-time reporter.
Bill returned to the Brunswick Citizen as a sports reporter in 2014 while still working at the FNP on a part-time basis. He continued to write for the Citizen until it ceased publication in April 2020.
In September 2020, Cauley was named Sports Reporter for The Spirit of Jefferson, Charles Town, West Virginia’s newspaper, a position he continues to hold.
Bill married the former Catherine Poetschan on April 2, 2011. They have two children and seven grandchildren.
Bill looks forward to delivering you the local sports news of the greater Brunswick area.
